We have an enormous collection of antique automobile photos that have been collected over the past 40 years ranging from the turn of the century through the 1950’s. We will be bringing you some never before seen photos every week and we would certainly love to hear what you think in the comments below.
This week for our very first posting we have a great photo of a 1937 Delahaye 135 MS with coachwork by Figoni et Falaschi. . We believe this car to be chassis number 48667 which was formerly owned by Bob Grier of New York who was a photographer and passionate motorist who filled his spare time with a fabulous rotating collection of the greatest automobiles, which were shared among a circle of friends that included Henry Austin Clark Jr., Alec Ullman, and the racing great Rene Dreyfus. Bob was the first private owner of 48667. In the 1960’s the car was then acquired by Malcom Prey of Greenwich, Connecticut and sold in recent years by RM Sothebys for $6,600,000 and certainly worth that price. This photo features 48667 parked in Central Park in New York City in the late 1940’s or early 1950’s. The photo was most likely taken by Grier. Fantastic photo and great car.
